WINTERBERG, Germany - In her first year in the junior division, Summer Britcher, of Glen Rock, Pa., scored a trio of seventh place results, the third of those coming Saturday in Winterberg, Germany on the final day of the Junior World Cup season.

Aidan Kelly, of West Islip, N.Y. was eighth in junior men, his second best achievement of the season.

The junior division includes sliders in the 19-20 age group.

Britcher, a gold medalist at the 2012 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), finished sixth in the overall Junior World Cup rankings with 240 points. In the season finale, she had a two-run total time of 1 minute, 30.070 seconds, putting her 0.41 of a second from winner Caroline von Schleinitz of Germany.

The home nation swept the top four places, and five of the top six.

Raychel Germaine, of Roswell, Ga., another member of the United States 2012 YOG team finished 20th in 1:32.316.

Nathalie Burkhardt was second on the day, but had enough overall Junior World Cup points to win the season-long title.

Kelly was almost 0.8 from German winner Chris Eissler. The American had two attempts that totaled 1:54.625. His teammate, Tucker West, spent the entire campaign racing up in age group. West, of Ridgefield, Conn. placed 15th in 1:55.070.

The U.S. ’start’ performances were noteworthy as Kelly had the fastest start times of both heats, while West, who has won the U.S. Start Championships the past two years, was second ranked both runs in Winterberg.

Kelly, the Long Islander, ended the Junior World Cup tour in 13th place with 189 points. The closeness of the races was exemplified in the fact that Kelly was just seven points from the top 10.

West concluded the international season 18th with 149 points.

Florian Beck, of Germany, won the overall chase among juniors. He was fourth on the final day and totaled 465 points. Eissler was runner-up with 396 points.

Although a team event was not contested this weekend in Winterberg, the U.S. ended the Junior World Cup season in fourth place in the overall team standings.

The U.S. juniors will now return to the U.S. for some brief rest, before the domestic race schedule resumes to conclude the winter.

The Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid will host the Norton National Championships and seeding races in the second half of March.

National Team seeding races are slated for March 16-17; Junior National Team Championship and seeding races take place March 23-24; and Youth nationals and seeding races are on tap March 30-31.
