The 11th annual Running of the Balls fundraiser, a fun and exciting initiative to help support the team’s athletes and programs will take place at the conclusion of the FIL Luge World Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y. on December 20, 2025.
Over 1,500 yellow, white and orange lacrosse balls will be released from the top of the Olympic Sports Complex luge track in fun and memorable event. Fans will be able to participate by entering as many balls as they’d like in the race. Cash and prizes from USA Luge and its sponsors will be offered for the top 10 balls and the last place ball.
There will be a special race, featuring blue-colored balls, that will award a trip to watch USA Luge athletes compete in Italy next February. Bucket List Events and USA Luge will take care of all travel, ground transportation, lodging and everything you need to cheer on the team. This is a great chance to win the trip of a lifetime.
Another special race celebrates 1998 honorary team captain Mojo Nixon, an accomplished musician, actor, DJ, commentator, and possessor of the spirit of rock-n-roll. Pravda Records will be re-issuing the entire Mojo catalog, starting with his debut album. The winner of that race will receive a copy of the album, plus an autographed cymbal, signed by Mojo’s band the Toad Liquors. 98 Mojo balls will be sold, in honor of the year Mojo was team captain.
The yellow, white and orange balls are offered at $15 each or three for $30. The blue colored balls and Mojo balls can be purchased at $35 each.
