USA Luge to host FIL Junior World Cup at Utah Olympic Park

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. –International junior luge athletes are coming to North America for the FIL Junior Luge World Cup, on Thursday, November 30 through Sunday, December 3. The races will be held at Utah Olympic Park, home of the 2002 Winter Games in Park City, Utah. 

 

The schedule includes both junior men’s and women’s singles races, as well as junior men’s and women’s doubles.  

 

USA Luge athletes expected to compete include 2022 Junior World Championship bronze medalist Matt Greiner (Park City, Utah) and Aidan Mueller (West Islip, N.Y.), who moved into men’s singles following a career in men’s doubles with partner, Frank Ike (Lititz, Pa.). Ike, who was named to the National Team this season, is currently racing in men’s doubles with Dana Kellogg (Chesterfield, Mass.). 

 

2023 Junior World bronze medalists Marcus Mueller (Brookfield, Wisc.) and Ansel Haugsjaa (Framingham, Mass.) will represent the team in men’s doubles. The duo is the current Norton Junior Champions and placed third overall in the 2023 Junior World Cup standings. 

 

Leading the women’s singles are Sophia Gordon (Sussex, Wisc.), who won her first Norton Junior title in 2022, and Emma Erikson (Park City, Utah), who placed third in the same competition.
