Memorial services announced
LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Memorial services have been announced to remember Dmitry Feld, USA Luge Marketing Manager, and beloved member of the luge and Lake Placid communities. Feld passed away on January 10, following a brief illness.
In a statement, USA Luge announced Feld’s passing on social media January 10:
With a very heavy heart, we must announce the passing of USA Luge Marketing Manager Dmitry Feld. Born in the former Soviet Union, Dmitry came to the U.S. in 1979. He began his time with USA Luge as a coach and team manager, eventually moving into the marketing department.
To say that Dmitry was full of life is a vast understatement. He was one of the kindest and most loving people on earth. He touched the lives of so many. Trying to measure his impact on the Lake Placid community and the international community would be an impossible task.
The luge world and the entire world has lost a giant of a human being.
May this wonderful man rest in peace.
Calling hours for Feld will be held on Sunday, January 14, from 2 to 4 PM at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home, located at 2310 Saranac Avenue in Lake Placid. Wildwood on the Lake, a hotel in Lake Placid, is offering a discounted rate of $88 per night for those attending the service.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, at 1 PM at the Lake Placid Olympic Center, Herb Brooks Arena, located at 2634 Main Street, Lake Placid.
Many people have expressed an interest in supporting Dmitry’s wife, Linda, and son, Dima, during this difficult time. While details are currently being finalized for a more formal way to support the family, checks, made payable to Linda Feld, as well as cash donations in a sealed envelope, are being accepted at USA Luge headquarters, 57 Church Street in Lake Placid.
Please join USA Luge as we remember a legend in our USA Luge family and honor his memory as we mourn this tremendous loss in the days and weeks ahead.
