LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – USA Luge has partnered with Swedish footwear provider Icebug to outfit its teams and staff with winter boots for the 2025-26 season.

USA Luge approached Icebug based on a few key factors, including traction, warmth, and durability. Icebug is providing the team with Adak BUGrip, featuring 17 dynamic carbide steel-tipped studs. The metal studs grip into ice, but their dynamic nature lets them respond to the pressure of the foot on asphalt or pavement. The deep rubber lugs give additional traction in snow and on uneven surfaces. The upper on Adak BUGrip is made of high-quality, nubuck leather. It is durable yet soft enough to be comfortable on the first wear. Each boot is lined with Primaloft® Bio Insulation covered by a soft terry fleece lining for maximum warmth and comfort.

In addition to boots, Icebug will also be providing prizes to the Luge Challenge in the coming winter. The program uses plastic sleds to brings the thrill of luge racing to ski areas around the northeast.

“Our athletes and coaches spend a lot of time in cold and slippery environments as they travel the globe,” said USA Luge Marketing Manager Yuliia Tyshevych. “We are so honored to have Icebug with us on the journey to Cortina for the Games in February of 2026.”

“We are thrilled to be the official footwear provider for USA Luge! We are winter enthusiasts who believe ice and slippery surfaces shouldn’t slow you down when doing what you love. Partnering with USA Luge to give them great traction when stepping onto the icy track was a no-brainer. We can’t wait to see where the team take their Icebugs!” said Teagan Bowar, marketing coordinator, Icebug USA, SPC.

USA Luge will begin its World Cup season in Igls, Austria December 5-7. Results from the first five World Cup events will serve as the primary means for Olympic Team nominations. Those nominees are expected to be announced on or around January 12, 2026. The athletes will be training this summer in Lake Placid, N.Y. in preparation for the 2025-26 luge season.

Icebug has set up a link to their website, giving USA Luge fans recognition as supporters of the team and the sponsorship.: https://www.linkconnector.com/ta.php?lc=168211159600007863
